Susan Fitzgibbon Shumaker, President
Susan Fitzgibbon Shumaker, RN, joined Cone Health Foundation as president in 2009. She earned Master of Health Administration and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees from Duke University and has 30 years’ experience in health care leadership. Susan served as president of Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville, North Carolina, for 20 years. She was instrumental in leading the integration of Annie Penn Hospital into Cone Health and establishing the Reidsville Area Foundation.
Susan is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. She recently renewed her nursing commitment by completing an extensive nurse refresher course and reactivating her nursing license in order to volunteer with underserved populations.
Sandra Welch Boren, VP, Senior Program Officer
Sandra Welch Boren, vice president and senior program officer, joined the Foundation in 2008, bringing 20 years of fundraising and foundation experience to the organization. She served as the program officer for the Cemala Foundation and, prior to that, was the associate director of the North Carolina Zoo Society, where she led fundraising activities.
Sandra earned a Master of Public Affairs degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Bachelor of Arts degree from High Point University.
Antonia Monk Richburg, VP, Senior Program Officer
Antonia Monk Richburg, vice president and senior program officer for the Foundation, has 25 years of experience in philanthropy. She has a PhD degree in Leadership Studies from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and a Master of Public Affairs degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She also has a postgraduate Advanced Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership from Duke University.
Richburg joined the Foundation in 1999 as the communications director and program officer. Previously, Antonia worked as senior community collaborations and initiatives specialist at United Way of Greater Greensboro and as a project manager for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Vicki Walker, Finance and Grants Manager
Vicki Walker, finance and grants manager, joined the Foundation in 2012. Prior to joining the Foundation, Vicki spent 20 years at Annie Penn Hospital, where she served as the executive assistant to the president.
She is responsible for the management of the Foundation’s grants processes, and for reporting and reconciling the Foundation finances.
Vicki has a bachelor’s degree in business education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Tracey Webster, Senior Executive Assistant
Tracey Webster joined the Foundation in 2015 as senior executive assistant. In this role, Tracey provides administrative support to the Foundation staff and oversees accounts payable as well as other duties.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Tracey served as senior executive assistant in the Health Services Division of Cone Health.
